Mangrove restoration

Southeast Asia

Working with a local implementation partner and leading international humanitarian organisation, HCBL is overseeing the design and implementation of a community-based mangrove restoration project in Southeast Asia.

The project aims to restore approximately 5,000 hectares of high value mangrove ecosystems to areas disturbed by commercial aquaculture, charcoal making and typhoons. The multiple resultant benefits are expected to include natural protection against storm surges, local employment, sustainable fisheries and enhanced biodiversity.
